Did I brick my scanner? Stupid mistake ..

I have an Epson GT-X820 (Japanese model name) the AC adapter says INPUT 100-120V~ 50-60Hz
Being really stupid, I plugged it into an outlet here in Switzerland without a converter. It worked for a few minutes, then shut off. Now, even with a voltage converter, it will not power on at all.

Should I consider the scanner a paperweight?

It's possible you didn't kill the scanner, but that you did kill the power adapter. I would try to find a power adapter designed for the european voltage (220-240v) and try that first.

you may have just popped an internal fuse, contact Epson support and see what they have to say.

Thank you for the replies!

I went to a local electronics shop, and they said the AC adapter is indeed quite dead (because I plugged it into the wall without a voltage converter.) They said they are able to get me a replacement, but it ain't cheap. I can't use eBay or anyone online because I don't have a credit card for the time being.

Another question, if I may. So I killed the ac adapter, does anyone here think the scanner will still work properly? I don't want to order a new ac adapter if the scanner is dead as a doornail.

No, I'll just have to take the price as a lesson: DON'T PLUG THINGS IN WITHOUT CHECKING THE #$%& VOLTAGE FIRST

As for Epson support, I did contact them in the US. Understandably however, they won't support my scanner as its a Japanese model. For what it's worth, they emailed me quickly and said I probably fried the main board. Not really helpful were they.

I got a new ac adapter and the scanner works fine Expensive lesson, but at least I didn't have to buy a brand new scanner!
