Did I accidentally do multiple exposures?

If I didn't have infrared film in my camera I would just roll it off and not worry about losing it.

You know the little crank thing on the right side that you wind when you're loading film, then it catches and you snap it down in place?

I just shot several frames, then noticed that it was standing out and the frames number never went past 1. Was the film really advancing and the number just didn't change, or did I lose all those shots (1 on top of the other)?

It sounds like you most likey have problem with the frame counter in the back. The other option is that the gears from the camera and back aren't engaging, but at least the interlock should have tripped after you shot the first frame and prevented the camera from firing again. Does your back have the red film use indicator on the left side? If so, how much red is showing, and approximately how many frames have you shot?

I'm not sure I explained it well enough. I had loaded the camera and wound it till it stopped and the counter showed the #1. But I noticed yesterday that the winder thing was sticking out. I didn't go over and place it correctly, neither did I notice and fix it when I started shooting today. I just fired away, and advanced. Fired and advanced. Probably 5 or 6 times. My son had had enough (haha - no surprise) and I went to put the camera on tripod away and then noticed that thing was sticking out. When I looked at the counter it was still on #1. I placed the winder down and fired a shot, advanced, and it said #2.

I'm wondering if with that thing sticking out, it didn't really advance the film at all and so shot all those over 1 frame of film. Because it's vanishing IR film, I didn't want to just wind it off. I guess I'll just keep shooting and it will be my surprise roll.

I don't know anything about a film indicator. There is a red half circle on the side, but it's solid red. If it's an indicator I didn't know it.

The red part moves and shows you how roughly, much of the film is used, when it's fully red, it means you have an exposed roll in the camera.
I end up with the little crank sticking out all the time. I've never had it affect the counter as you describe.
Are the numbers centered in the window, is it possible you went from frame 11 to 12? That would be consistent with your description that the film use indicator is fully red.

No, I don't think so. I'm sure I didn't shoot that many frames. Well, pretty sure. I'll let you know how it comes out. Maybe I did. I do get carried away shooting sometimes (though I can't imagine my 14 year old son allowed 11 shots!). Thanks.

haahahahaaha... I figured out what was wrong. I went to my neighbor's to shoot off the last few frames, whatever was really there. Came home and went into the dark to unload my IR film, and uh... there's no film in my camera.
