It should have been an instant back for their lubitel camera. They made that camera with a removable back specifically for a future instant back but have yet to make it.

just looked at their kickstarter. Not impressed with the "vignetting". It's more like the lenses don't cover the entire film area and remain unexposed. Almost like their fisheye 35mm cameras. Still, gotta give them credit for at least trying something new. I think if someone was going to buy it, a flash would be absolutely mandatory with shutter speeds of either 1/60 or bulb and a maximum aperture of f11..

There are interchangeable lenses, so I get the impression that the shutter is in the body. I wonder how hard it would be to adapt classic lenses to it. It supports bulb mode, so using an attached leaf shutter lens might give a range of shutter speeds and apertures.

I still think the lubitel is the obvious choice. A fully manual instax camera would be a rare thing indeed.

Instax Square still $12.49 for 10 shots at B&H. Too rich for my me. Instax Wide in twin packs is cheaper. Until they offer multi-packs with a unit price of no more than $1 per print, it's a no sale for me.

Normally I find what LOMO sells to be overpriced. That's actually pretty reasonable.

It's cheaper than Fuji's sq6 which would be it's direct competitor- *almost* half it's price. It is severly limited though, having bulb mode and 1/60th for shutter speeds and I think only 3 aperture sizes. It's not groundbreaking for lomography, like some of their lenses have been, but it's a cheap way to get into instant photography. If Polaroid would just get their film sorted out I'd be much more tempted to go that route over this camera though.

If you could adapt a proper lens to it you could make something quite respectable I'd imagine.

I think so. I've seen hacked Instax Wide cameras and those are great, but I really like the idea of something plug-and-play that doesn't have to be modified and can be restored to its original state quickly.

I don't think the "Diana mount" is much more than a hole with two slots cut out on either side that you twist their lenses into. I don't know how one would say make a pentax or Fuji or canon lens fit it, but as you say, it's been done. I would be more apt to believe it would require a serious modification of the camera. I'd also be careful putting heavy glass on an all plastic camera- I'd be nervous of the mount breaking. Best of luck though- if successful you could have made yourself a nice little camera. These kind of projects never work out for me but I just lack the skills to do these things. Post photos if you ever do make one!

Maybe I'm asking too much of a toy camera. If I do anything at all, I'll post something about it.

I have been playing around with mine and it is a pretty fun camera. Vignetting is ok but I hear that the glass lens which lomography threw in for free is pretty amazing.
