Hello everyone,
Im starting to print in the darkroom and I recently bought a cheap 504 De Vere that is however not complete. It came with the older DeVere universal negative carrier (this one https://www.secondhanddarkroom.co.uk/product/de-vere-504-universal-carrier ) but no insert or glass. What should I buy to hold the negative flat and what’s your technique on this enlarger? No glass, ANR glass and normal glass, ANR glass + inserts? I am a bit lost. Thanks!

ANR glass can be expensive, but it would go on the top and regular or ANR glass on the bottom.

I just had some glass cut by Knight Optical, per recommendations on Phototrio, however, the minimum order was $560, so I had to buy probably more glass than I needed. I bought enough to re-glass both of my 8x10 carriers and that was just about $560.

Bonjour,
Contactez seconhanddarkroom

Hello,
Contact seconhanddarkroom

An "anti-reflective" framing glass also eliminates Newton's rings, which can be cut by a framer to size 15.5x12.4x2 mm

The advantage of the original glass is that it is slightly beveled to fit the grommet's retaining system, but a file and a little elbow grease can be used to fit an anti-reflective glass.

I don't use metal inserts, but I cut a sheet to the size of my negatives in an orthochromatic film (exposed and developed to be black) to avoid flare on the edges of the negative.
