For Sale DeVere 504 Mk.IV at auction right now

Trader history for polyglot (0)

$110 geez the Jobo Colorstar is worth more than that.

Didn't know about that auction, much other stuff?

Mick.

Shane, you are in big trouble. I just went to ebay and put a search in for De Vere enlarger.

I didn’t know that ebay sold those kind of enlargers, neither did my 8 year old niece, she does now though.

Any chance of a link?

Mick.

Bigger than an LPL, but built like a tank - I used these when I attended TAFE 1998-2000 (these came from their previous location when they relocated to TTG).

Darn it! I would have bid on this if I'd been aware . . . . .

Thanks Shane, could almost be worth a drive up there if the purchase price was right.

Looks neat and tidy.

Mick.

Includes some good lenses. Also mentions a Jobo, but that's not pictured and might be a separate auction, but there's nothing in the seller's "Other Items" list.

Looks like it'll be a great deal for someone. It's the same model 504 as I've got, and in cleaner/neater condition.

hoffy if you're interested in one of these, I'll go measure mine up.

I know, I know, excuses, excuses.

But Gosford is a long way from Adelaide!

About 11 hours, give or take.

I can tell you this, if you ever have a reasonable De Vere enlarger, or are lucky to get a good one, you'll probably never want for anything else. They are that good.

Mick.

Ok, so the Gosford Devere went for $510.

I have just been made aware of a LPL 7450 with assorted lenses... Are they any good? Worth as much as a Devere?

Matt gave an excellent link, a bit of study is in order.

The LPL 7450 and later models are quite good, nothing at all like the De Vere, but nonetheless they are not bad.

The 7450 is essentially the LPL 7700 on steroids. The wall mounting bracket for the 7700 can be used for the 7450 with the drilling of one hole (I've done that), but I'm not sure about the 7451 and certainly not the 7452.

The pick of the models is the last one, the 7452. It has a spacer that brings the head about 50mm away from the column, this is how they get larger enlargements.

I've owned the LPL 6700, LPL 7700, LPL 7450 and used the LPL 7452.

They are good honest enlargers but there really isn't any way to change the negative carrier alignment, it is factory set and according to the factory, perfect. Within reason and from experience I would agree with that statement, but ..................

The neg carriers are reasonable.

I would suggest the De Vere enlarger you missed out on is like a Bentley motor car of old, hand built and as steady as a proverbial rock at whatever terminal speed it is possible to do. The LPL 7450 would be a Hyundai i30 in today's automotive offerings. Nothing flash, runs forever, never really has faults and everything works well.
