I have just this evening set up a used Devere 504 with a Mk4 head. Everything works, which is nice because it was sitting in a storage locker for several years. I cannot seem to figure out how the lens boards insert and lock into place. Anyone have some guidance on this?

Thanks, Fred

I have a Devere 5108 but as far as I know that's the same bajonet. Just fit the two openings in the lensplate at the spot where the enlarger head has two 'pins' and turn (firmly) clockwise until the stop. The rim of the lens plate has to slide under the two pins.

It's sometimes possible for the two pins to become a little loose and the lens panel will not be secured tight. If so, replacement pins used to be available, probably still are from Odyssey, http://www.odyssey-sales.co.uk/de-vere.htm, though often easier just to stick a few layers of masking tape over the area of the panel which meets the pins to give a tight fit.

Great enlarger!

10 years ago, as a temporary measure (and with intention of buying new pins), I fitted some Gaffa Tape on the lens panel at the spot where the panel meets the pins. Needless to say, I never bought the pins and the Gaffa Tape is still there and still works perfectly.

Bests,

David.

This sounds familiar except I did buy the pins! Wonder where they are?
