Developing Shantou Era 100 film in Dektol. Bad idea?

I have a roll of Shantou Era 100 that I finally finished off (thanks Richard!), and all I have currently is Mic-X and Dektol. The Mic-X is unopened and I will probably be selling it along w/ the replenisher, so that leaves the Dektol. The issue is that the Dektol is nearly 3 months old (stock solution that was used for prints). Given that grain is probably gonna be there no matter what, the age of the developer has me concerned too.

Am I just fooling myself thinking that this might work? It need not work perfectly, it was just a roll that took months to finish off so who knows what's on it, but if somehow a frame or two looks good enough to print 8x10, is this just wishful thinking? I've never developed any film in Dektol before, so there is that too.

i process my film in a combination of dektol and coffee one after the other
the grain isn't an issue anymore than some other developers.
if your dektol is still clear see how it does turning a piece of photo paper black in room light
( to make sure it is still good )
if you are unsure your developer is still good, don't use it, no point in ruining film with bad/exhausted developer.
otherwise process your film 1:7 for about 7 mins ... agitate normally, stop and fix normally.
i did this with ansco 130 for almost 15 years maybe more than that, a similar paper developer.
i had some dektol turn brown and go bad on my a month or so ago, i mixed up some fresh d72 from scratch, works great.

Ah, the brown thing. Completely forgot about that. Duh. Normally I mix up fresh paper developer and pitch it before it ever gets that way. The one time I let it get even to a sort of light yellow my prints suffered. Thanks. I'll ck that first, then see where that leads me.

Coffee had occurred to me as well, but I would have had to buy the coffee, which is sure more money than I remembered instant coffee used to be, the sodium carbonate, and maybe the powered Vitamin C, all for a one time project. Pfffft. May as well buy some Rodinal and be able to use it for months (I don't get much more than that from the Ro9 variety).

i'd say, its sort of brownish, use it anyways ! but dektol , nope
not sure where you are, but around here at least instant coffee can be pretty cheap,
its the vit c that gets up there in $ ... at trader joe's it ( vit c ) tends to be inexpensiver than other places..
