Developing - Duplicate Negative

So I have a duplicate negative of (there was a url link here which no longer exists) to play with was wondering what some of you might do? Original negative was processed in Pyrocat-YD, 2+2+100 for 12.5 min at 74 F, using a Beseler 8x10 print drum on a motor base. Was considering the same set up, except giving the development 50% more developing time to see if I could get a bit more detail in the lace curtains. Does that sound right, or would I just be wasting my time, and possibly screw up the negative?

More development time will cause the windows to be even more blocked up. How about reducing development time by about 30% to see if you can hold the windows back.

You might go with a little LESS development to get detail in the lace. More development would just block up the highlights even more.

Thanks David & glbeas....this is why have learned to ask first, then do. Kept think I needed to give more developement to bring out the lace...but that would Expand the contrast range, which the image does not need any help with extra contrast. What is needed is a slight decrease in the contrast, so N- (or less) development is needed...do I have it right now?

... Or you could try something colmpletely different, like a non-staining developer just to see what the difference is. Something like 7 1/2 minute in Beutler's at 68 F?

I make copy negs with tech-pan rated at 12 ISO (i.e. 1 stop over exposed) and underdeveloped 25% in technidol. Tech-pan has now largely gone, but another very slow film would do the job if handled in the same way.

Ole, gave that quite a bit of thought - have some Rodinal, ID11 and think there is still some HC110 that is still good. In the end, though went with the Pyrocat-HD last night, hey I had an hour or so before going to bed, 8min 45sec. Glanced at the negative last night when I hung it up to dry, and think I had what I was after. Will try to print in tonight when I get home.
