Developers for Adox, Efke & Rollei Films?

I'm about to try out several films I've not used before, for some landscape work and would appreciate hearing others views on them, plus any developer recommendations for each, including dilutions and processing times. I'll be shooting 6x12 and 6x17 format.

The films are: Adox CHS 25, Rollei Pan 25, Efke IR 820 and Rollei IR 820c. As far as the Adox and Rollei Pan are concerned, since they are very fine grained anyway, I'll be looking for a sharp working dev. I'm considering using a heavily diluted (1+100) Rodinal. Or perhaps one of the R 09 versions. But I'm open to other suggestions.

I'm more undecided about the two IR films though. I'm looking for optimum quality (obviously), so I'd prefer to minimise grain and yet maintain sharpness. You know, one of those easy things to do!

Your comments would be most appreciated.

I have only used Efke R25/Adox CHS 25 of the films you mention. I find that Neofin Blau, 1 vial to 50 centilitres of water @ 20°C works well for me. Agitate for 30 seconds at the beginning and two gentle inversions every minute. I develop for 7 minutes when I have several scenes with different contrast on the same roll. Rodinal 1+50, same agitation and temperature, is also a good combination.

I might add that I use a diffusion enlarger.

Rodinal 1+100 certainly works well for the Efke 25, and grain is pretty much a non-issue especially with the size you are shooting.

Another developer that I have used that works very well is PC-TEA @ 1+50. You do have to mix the developer yourself, as it is not a commercial, off the shelf option. Pretty simple and cheap to make though, and it seems to have a pretty good shelf life.

For the Efke 25 and Rollei Pan 25 Neofin Blue or the same type (non-staining) pyrocatechine developer from Amaloco AM50 is a marvellous combination. Rodinal 1+50 is also a good combination.

For the Rollei IR 820/400 a more semi-compensating developer is easy for the less accurate E.I. for an I.R. film so I can advise you the Rollei H.S. or AM74 Amaloco developer.

Fotohuis took out the Rollei document developers RHC and RLC (for the time being) and added the pyrocatechine developer AM50. Further less succesfull practical developer combinations we skipped from the Rollei list.
