developer for Rollei IR 400

Any suggestions please for a normal fine grain liquid one-shot developer that works well with this film? I need to use it in a school darkroom where we can use the developer for other, non IR films like HP5+ so exotic stuff is out. DDX ideal as have some already! If you can suggest dev, dev time an ISO for normal and IR photography with R60 filter I'd be grateful. Have read Rollei tech sheet.

I used Xtol 1+1 when I developed this film last year and I was pleased with the results. Developing times are on the inside of the box. Note: these times are different from those in Massive Dev Chart. I used the box times with no problems. ID11 is another option (see photo).

I've used D-76 1:1 for IR400 in 35mm and Superpan 200 (same film, different name, emulsion issues) in 120. 14 minutes/agitation on the minute/71F for the 120; I did 15 minutes on the 35mm. I'm quite satisfied with how they came out.

It appears that Burnaby and IR sensitive film go well together .

I use D-76 1:1 semi-stand (around 20 minutes) for this film to help tame contrast, it works for me (I'll see if I have some examples to upload later).

Rodinal Special (Studional) 1:30 for 13 minutes works well for me.

Trask, can you expound on the ‘same film, different name’ theme? I have a bunch of Superpan 400 in 120 and have read a lot of conflicting information on the net regarding whether or not IR 400/Superpan 200/Superpan 400/Aviphot Pan 200 is all the same film. There seems to be little consensus and there are numerous (also conflicting) datsheets floating around. Can you shed more light on this (and my apologies if I’m sidelining the thread a little)?

My main developer for HP5 and Rollie IR is Pyrocat-HD. I have also used Xtol 1+1, which is a very fine, one-shot developer.

Pentode — I suggest you read through this thread on the topic: https://www.photrio.com/forum/threa...acking-paper-issues-and-its-not-kodak.137797/ There’s a good discussion of this issue, particularly as it relates to Superman and IR400, which only confirmed my own experience that (A) they seem to be the same film and (B) the IR400 is confectioned in the UK which seems to avoid the backing paper/blotchiness issues seen in Superpan.
