Developer for 1 roll?

I had mixed up a stock sollution of D76 sometime back, but could't completely use it.. which i believe has exhausted!

Now, can I make a developer from the D76 powder for 1 roll? Instead of storing the 3 Litre stock sollution, i can make the solution for 1 roll whenever i need it..?

Any recomendations of quantity of Part A and Part B would be very much apprecieated..

This isn't recommended, because you can't guarantee that the dry chemicals are evenly distributed in the package. It is better just to buy a smaller quantity of developer, so you don't have to mix so much stock solution.

You could also mix your own developer from bulk chemicals and make as much as you want whenever you need it.

Another option: freeze your exposed film (in sealed bags) and develop in batches. Saves time, too.

Shooting more black and white film would help too.

Another possibility is to use a developer intended for one-shot use. Such developers usually have long shelf lives. Try HC-110 or Rodinal.

Or you can use Diafine, which seems to keep forever.

Both the developers mentioned by Gerald are highly concentrated liquids. Such developers usually keep well until they're diluted and used, although I can't promise this for any given developer. (Rodinal and HC-110 both have excellent reputations on this score.) D-76 is often used one-shot, too, but doesn't keep as well once it's been mixed from powder.

Using a liquid developer would make this a lot easier.

I've been using <a href="http://www.adox.be/ADOX_Chemie/Filmentwickler/page35/page35.html">Adolux ADX</a> a lot recently -- comes in two small bottles and you combine a small amount of each immediately prior to use. I love the results from this developer -- it's a surprise it's not better known -- and, according to the manufacturer, the fact that you only combine the two components of the developer immediately before use is meant to help it keep for longer.

I've compared this to Ilford DD-X on a couple of rolls of Neopan 400 recently and I prefer the Adolux ADX, no question. Although the DD-X is perfectly fine and would be another liquid developer you could use.

I suspect that you are not U.K. based and if so I can't comment on your stockist situation but Ilford do a 1 litre pack of ID11. If this is used as stock solution then you'll quickly use 1 litre, give that most tanks need at least 250 mls for inversion agitation.This may help if you can persuade your stockist to get it for you.
