quick question

is there any problem in mixing my package of dektol meant for 3.8 gallons, instead into 1.9 gallons, and instead of diluting 1:3, diluting 1:7? I want to save space plus all my bottles are just a bit too small for 3.8 gallons.

My math seems correct and everything looks dissolved, but there must be a reason Kodak reccomends their way?

Kodak must give instructions for all types of climates. If you can get everything into solution then fine. However, others in colder regions may experience problems.

I'm rather surprised that it dissolved.

Check again when it cools down. It is mixed at 90 - 100 F and when it cools down at that concentration you may get some precipitate at room temperature.

Your right. I went to print this morning and I saw that there were crystals floating around everywhere. I diluted it to 3.8 litres and split it up in two bottles and it looks like the same old dektol now.

Now you know from personal experience, why the instructions read that way. You are making the most concentrated solution of those ingredients that is possible at room temperature.

I was not sure, but I suspected that would happen from another recent experience of my own.
