Dev time - TXP 2 stop push

I pushed a roll of TXP to EI 1250 without checking for dev times (oops) and was wondering if anybody had any times for it, preferably for Rodinal or TMax Dev as that's what I have handy at the moment.

Have you read the tech sheet? Find it here: http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professional/support/techPubs/f4017/f4017.pdf. No data for Rodinal, but that's not a good choice for pushing anyway, so no great loss. There are push times for 400TX in a number of Kodak developers, TMax developer included. There doesn't seem to be anything written for 320TXP, except for XTOL. You can use that as a guide though. Figure out the difference in time between the nominal speed time and the two stop push time as a percentage, and apply that to the TMax normal time. It'll get you real close.

I had read the tech sheet, but hadn't thought of that idea for adjusting the TMax time myself. I'll have to do that.

As to Rodinal, I've successfully pushed with it using Stand developing, it's unsuitable for pushing only in high concnetrations when agitated.

The rule of thumb is to add 50% addtional time for each push. For TXP at 320 Kodak recommends 6 mint. One push is 9, then another 50% at 9 mint is 13.5 mints.

Looks like 11 Minutes at 20C in TMax Dev was the right answer (rounded up from the 10.57 minutes the math suggested). Negs look pretty good to me,not too thin.

Yeah, I've done that too - 1+100, agitate for the first 30 seconds, then let it sit for an hour or so. A couple of times, it gave me noticeably uneven development with 120 film so I abandoned the effort. A two stop push doesn't do much to help those empty shadows though, and I get a little more with XTOL and a lot less grain.

The best I've been able to do for a two stop push with 400TX has been with Diafine. That developer really does help out quite a bit in the shadows and keeps the contrast down to manageable levels. I've never tried it with 320TXP, so I can't say for sure how well it would work. If I needed the push, I'd choose 400TX 'cause I know what to expect from it. I'd say it was worth a shot though, if you are so inclined.

It was a case of having TXP on me (I was borrowing a GA645 from a friend and needed to stick something in the camera), I normally use TX400 pushed to 1600 in TMax Dev. The results are surprisingly good from TXP at EI1250, but I'll be sticking to TX400 for pushing most of the time.
