..............an enlarger, for both 35mm and 6x6, B&W only!!!!

Hello everyone,

I introduced myself few months ago, meanwhile my partner and I had a beautiful baby-boy, so I took some time off!
I am looking for an enlarger, since the only darkroom available to the public in Galway shut down in January and I am totally sick to scan from the negatives
If any of you has an idea, or know someone who want to sell some equipment, or can give me some indication how to find one, please let me know!!!!!
I have been reading the posts about the group and the exhibition...Great ideas!!

Mirko There are some good deals on the U.K. e-bay with a problem. 1. Enlargers being the size they are most sellers want you to pick them up rather than go to the time and trouble of packing them. They can be dismantled and packed but expect a hefty postage bill.

2 ways round this. 1.Is there a separate e-bay for the Republic? 2. Find a N Ireland seller which makes a pick up feasible. It's crossing the Irish Sea that's the difficulty but there may be little choice. It's the biggest single item you'll ever need and a trip in a car/van to the U.K. might be worth it as it's only once

A couple of U.K. retailers sell secondhand enlargers and might ship to the Republic. Try calling Secondhand Darkroom Supplies or Nova Darkroom. A google will find both phone numbers

Finally there are a couple of active subscribers here from the Republic whom might come up with ideas.

I suppose that the now closed darkroom has sold its equipment but if the owners are contactable they may know of sources of enlargers. Always assuming that you haven't thought of that.

thanks for the good tips. I have been looking on ebay lately and even though there are seller that can ship, the shipping costs are (of course) too high. I will definitely try to contact both Secondhsnd DArkroom and Nova as suggested!
Regarding the closed darkroom, it was part of an art centre and, with no apparentr reasons, they decided to do not sell the stuff!!!

Mirko - Just upgraded my darkroom and have an LPL C7700 going spare. Has 35mm and 6x7 neg carriers along with a spare bulb. Also included, is a genuine "owner's manual"
Although it has a colour head, I use it for B&W printing on VC paper, and it works just fine with ordinary graded.

Total weight is listed at 16.2Kg, so once packed, shipping weight would be around 18Kg - Parcelforce are coming up with a price of around £45 for a 24Hr service.

If you are interested, make me an offer, and perhaps we can come to some arrangement.

Both Nova and SDS ship to Ireland but ask that you check first for cost of shipping. Nova will deliver to the U.K. for £5.95 irrrespective of weight or size but charge more for N Ireland destinations. The Nova site also links to barkerphotographic in county Cork which also carries enlargers but without any prices and without saying if they are new or secondhand.

If you can't do a deal with paul c5x4 or others who might offer enlargers then things don't look too bad with the above 3 sources.

Hi Mirko,

Friend of mine is selling an enlarger. Its a Durst M605, B&w head, 2 rodagon lenses,1 for 35mm & other 6x6 plus contrast filters set. slightly worn cogs on lever handle but doesnt effect usability or performance. He's in Dublin. Email me and I'll send on his details
