Can someone explain what the "hypo eliminator hose" on this item actually does?

It's a hose for supplying and draining water from the tray which helps eliminate the "hypo".

I have been reading the thread, and though I have no experience in processing prints so large, I have a suggestion. (Worth what it costs)

You said you are using 8" PVC and need a tray for it. Have you thought about using the next size or two larger (10"?) and cutting it 1/3 length - wise to provide a tray? Of course you would have to somehow cap the ends, but it would seem to me to be cheaper than Stainless Steel and if nothing else provide a "prototype" for the SS trays you mentioned.

Good Luck, I'll be where you are by this Fall if my replacement bulb idea for my MVT 57 works!

I think I'm over this idea. I think that when I decide I need to manage 16x20 and 20x24 paper, I'll buy these two items:

With this drum, you can do a 30"x60" print - Expose it, put it in the open top. Dump 2 liters of developer in it. Roll it for a few minutes etc. I just ordered one. It will hang off my rollers 5" on each side - no problem - it is RED .... cool huh - not that I need anything more than my safelight but ... maybe it becomes its own safelight? - anyway - looks like a better way than I am doing - or at least it will help with the wash cycle - which for me sucks right now. - I think I will bore a 2" hole in the center of the lid and use that to add chems while in motion. - Of course my long - narrow trays do work good for development - either way -

With my two 20x24 inch stainless steel trays, Leedal, all I needed was that Yankee wash tray. The drums look good too.

Instead of buying the drum you can go to any pool company an get them free , when they use backing soda or other chemicals stored in those drums. they have to dispose of it .
