For those who test their own film using densitometry: what kind of light source do you use?

I'm using a Agfa D102 densitometer to test my film. Currently I'm using a USB-powered led drawing panel, but it does not nearly deliver the minimum output of 2500 lux as recommended by Agfa. Hence my search for a decent replacement without breaking the bank.

Any suggestions?

Consider the spectral output too.

Yes, that is something to take into consideration as well especially since I am using a staining developer (Hypercat) as my default developer for low and medium speed films.

my current densitometer(Heiland)has a built-in light source but when I used the Agfa I used a light table with 40 W Neon bulbs(warm-white).

I am not sure but I simply use a densitometer. For B&W I don't think the color temperature of the light source is very important.

If I am able to meter the various densities of a Stouffer 35mm step wedge with my Agfa D102 - not sure if the width of the bars on the step wedge allow a meter reading with D102's sensor as they might be too narrow - I was thinking to use a led floodlight and a opal perspex sheet as diffuser. If it works out it is a clean, simple and fairly inexpensive answer to my question.

In B&W staining developers are used too (especially in the US).
