Densitometer questions

Are densitometers for B&W film only? Or can they be used for color film too?

I'm in the market for a densitometer and I want to know which one to get and how much to pay for it. I work in color and B&W (mostly 4x5 but other formats as well).

A B&W densitometer can often be used for color by using the right calibration, but some B&W meters are built only for B&W. A color meter may have a B&W mode. In other words, a color meter would have R/G/B and N. There is another thread going here on the same subject. You may be interested.
