He was the epitomy of the stock "baddie" in a way that no longer seems to exist in films. While his characters were all different you kind of knew what you'd get with Dennis. It made him more exciting rather than less. A bit of a "one-off" in the film acting business has now gone.

In addition to one of the best actors of his generation, he was also a great photographer. And in recent years, he did a number of TV commercials that featured serious photography. Great spokesman for our 'fraternity'.

A sad day indeed, just to remember how far back his acting goes, "Rebel Without a Cause" with James Dean, Sal Mineo, and Natalie Wood, that's quite a lineup.

They are all gone now, James Dean, Sal Mineo, Natalie Wood and now Dennis Hopper. What's left is the mark they made in the movies.

Mono beat me to the punch. 'Pop Quiz, . . . ' May God be with the Hoppers. Said with the most straight face. Not a crack.

RIP Dennis Hopper

Just heard that Dennis Hopper has passed away, at 74. Easy Rider and Apocalypse Now, two iconic performances that came if my teens and early 20's -- who can forget his turn as a combat photographer in Vietnam? Is this why I had to buy a black Nikon F? What a guy...

I remember first seeing him in Rebel Without a Cause, with his good friend James Dean. I was a little too young to see him when Apocalypse Now was released, and definitely *not* around for Easy Rider.

Truly a colourful character who outlasted many of his peers. . . . . . .

He was also a talented photographer - using black and white films in much the same way we do today.

He had an exposition at the last Photokina, thus presenting his work a wider public.

Yes, he did shoot b/w (there's a particularly good pic of Paul Newman), but he also did fashion shoots at Elle magazine for a time where his eldest daughter, Marin, was an editor. In fact, he may have done some as recently as 2009. Yes... indeed, RIP.

RIP Dennis. You were a fabulous man.Dennis Hopper may have gone too soon, but perhaps not for his soon-to-be-ex wife: Though he filed for divorce in January, the tempestuous pair were still legally married when Hopper died yesterday morning, TMZ reports, potentially setting up an epic battle in probate court.

I love him in "Blue Velvet". He was the perfect combination of weird and bad guy.
