I have been using 120 Delta 400 lately with Rodinal, 1:100, a full minute constant agitation, then 15 sec every 4 minutes, dump at 23 minutes with very nice results.
When I first started doing this, I presoaked for 2 min, based on some recommendations related to Pyrocat semi stand methods. Then I saw someone suggest not using a presoak at all with Rodinal, to encourage rapid saturation of the emulsion, etc., so I tried it. I notice, though, that when I stop development (I use TF4, so just plain water, 3 fills and dumps over a minute time), there is a lot of yellow looking foam that comes out with the developer, and subsequent water dumps, with the last water dump looking pretty clear. I assume this has something to do with the anti-halation layer which is no longer being cleared by a presoak. It doesn't seem to affect development, but I'm concerned that it impedes agitation. This result has been consistent with the last 4 rolls done this way.
I always measure the amount of development to adequately cover the reel, but to leave enough space at the top for chem movement.
Anyone have this issue with Delta 400, and does anyone think I should resume the presoak and adjust the time accordingly?
