Delta 100 in Dilute Xtol... Need Times

I developed 6 sheets of 4x5 Delta 100 EI80 tonight for 14min. 70 deg. at 1:3 in a slosher tray. It was too long. The negs look bulletproof. Nice shadows. Just developed too long. I'm looking for anyone who is using Delta 100 in Xtol at 1:2 or 1:3. What are your times and EI? Also, pre-soaking or not?

I'd like to stick with a higher dilution of Xtol, since I'm using 2000ml of developer in an 11x14 tray for six sheets of film. So there is no risk to me of exhusted developer since I'm using 500ml of Xtol.

Dear Brian,

The April 2000 Xtol data sheet gives 10-1/2 minutes for 1:3 at 70°F using continuous agitation. I hope this helps.

I do not use Xtol for sheet, but HC110.
As I use Jobo 2521 tank by inversion (like a 135 Paterson tank) I need about 1.45 l of chemistry to properly cover the sheets. So my situation is like yours.
I've started, one day I had a lot of film to process, to re-use the working strengt HC110 and this proved very good. Beware of exhaustion, HC110 in dilution H (1+63) is good for 15 sheet of 4x5 if the volume is 1.45 liter chemistry.
Of course, you can't keep the chemistry over night.

I develop Delta 100 in XTOL 1-3 at 68dg for 13 min with an ei of 50 using hand agitation. I decrease the time about 10% for a JOBO. Using an Ilford temp conversion chart that would be 11.75 at 70 degrees. Start there or add 30 seconds for an ei of 80. that is about a 12% difference in time from 14 min. Hope that helps.

I don't really do any + or - with Delta. I will bracket one stop either side of 50. That will pretty much give me a neg that will print well. But if you are shooting a scenes with low contrast, soft shadows etc, play around with the time you now have. With the right SBR that might give fine negatives. If you want a N- start reducing 10-12% from the 11.75min.

I use PCM, a homebrew which is very similar to Xtol, and I normally give Delta 100 about 7:30 at 70F full strength. If you're diluting it 1:2, I'd probably give it about 10 minutes to start with and then adjust accordingly.
