Can print "luminosity" be defined? Looking at two prints, one on Adox Fineprint Vario Classic and the other on ILFORD MGWT FB GLOSS, the ILFORD print seems to glow, while the Adox print displays a more muted effect. Can these differences be reduced to gloss level, d-max, contrast?

If we stop using the word "luminosity" when we mean luminance, I guess the word could then be used for subjective comments on prints

If you're looking at the prints under fluorescent light, you might be seeing the effect of optical brighteners in the paper. Just for fun, if you have a "black light," shine it on them and see what happens. I'll bet the Adox paper has a smaller quantity or maybe even no brighteners.
