Sorry to hear this. I met his work through Lustrum Press' 1977 book Darkroom—an influential exploration of style and technique for me.

I heard him speak at the Visual Studies Workshop a long time ago, in the early 1980s I think. It was quite inspirational, although his pictures and mine are quite different.
He was a true artist- a singular vision, with personalized technique to bring it to life.
May he rest in peace!
