For Sale Deardorff 8x10

Deardorff 8x10 camera No. 740. $1400 OBO

We just completed stripping off the old lacquer and reapplying six layers of new. The finish is fairly good although we're not professional painters and admittedly this doesn't look like a Steinway.

All movements smooth, hardware in great shape but the nickle plating on these never holds up very well. Bellows were recently replaced by the previous owner and are in fantastic condition. Comes with an 8x10 back with original focusing screen and we also have a 4x5 back which was also just refinished for sale.

Please take a look at the flickr gallery which should give a fairly good idea of what condition the camera is in. If there is serious interest I would like to speak on the phone and answer any questions you may have.

Andrew: If you do buy the Deardorff, I would respectfully recommend that you consider adding the metal plate to the bottom of the camera. Such plate can often be found on the auction site that we all know about.

Agreed with adding a plate especially if you're not using a big head tripod.

Funny about the metal plate. I can attest to that being a really good idea. I have a 8x10 deardorff around the same vintage, that I bought around 1977. a few years later I was out at Chimney bluffs on Lake Ontario shooting some landscapes at the edge of the cliff. My gitzo head loosened and the head dropped to it's stop abruptly, and the camera ripped off the tripod screw holder. I just barely caught the camera before it rolled down the cliff. I put a big metal tripod plate on and have used the camera ever since
