THIS CAMERA WILL NOT DISSAPPOINT. Everything from the scuff-free bottom plate to the supple light-tight bellows, and the flawless finish make this Deardorff a collectors dream. Everything works exactly as it should... tight joints, smooth gearing... it looks like it just stepped out of the showcase. I really don't know if this is original or completely refinished; I just couldn't resist it. Bad news is that it has been sitting on display, unused, in my office for over a year.
I sent pics to Ken Hough and he told me, "Its a late 1937 early 38 model. The summer of 38 they started using a Stainless rear swing. Fall of 37 they started nickle plating the brass. This is sort of a transition model" -Ken Hough
This beautiful camera needs to get off the shelf and get to work. If comes with both the 5x7 and 4x5 backs, one original lensboard with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 21cm brass barrel lens, one finished lensboard with a copal 1 hole poorly cut by me, and several other unfinished homemade boards. The buyer of this beauty really needs to seek out original boards to properly match the perfect finish.
