Deardorff 4x5 reducing back (auction proceeds will be donated to APUG)

I have an original Deardorff 4x5 reducing back for an 8x10 camera up for auction. The proceeds will be donated to APUG. Please post your bids here in this thread.

The back have a few small blemishes to the finish, but overall I would rate it an 8+ out of 10. It has the original gridded Deardorff ground glass with the logo on it. (see photo). Please PM or post with any questions or comments.

The auction will end January 7th at 5pm PST.

I have never used a polaroid holder with it, but if the polaroid is the same size as a standard 4x5 holder, there will be no problems. Maybe someone else can chime in with more info.

The 545 should work just fine, as it had been designed to fit in the same place as a standard 4x5 holder.

Dave & Brian,

The 545 back needs about 7/16" height above the surrounding rear board to clear it once the holder is inserted into the camera at the plane where a normal holder would sit. A standard holder does not need this additional spacer between the back and the plane of the film holder. On a regular 4x5 back, this extra portion of the 545 holder usually clears/overhangs the rear box avoiding this insertion problem. But with a reducing back, the groundglass frame must be elevated above the back to allow use of the 545.

So, I'm wondering if there is that much clearance on this back.

Although I've never used a 545 back in one of these I have used a Calumet Roll Film Holder in one and it worked just fine.

IIRC, the Calumet holder when inserted protrudes towards the rear of the camera only. The 545 holder protrudes front and back.

The only way to tell for sure if the 545 will fit is to take the measurement from the camera back to the plane upon which the film holders are seated in the ground glass frame. (Or actually test it with a 545 holder in place.)

Well,

as my main business is working on camera backs, and I have worked with a number of other reducing backs, I would say with 99% certainty that the polaroid will work on the Deardorff reducing back...but off course each back on wood cameras do have variances in them, your best bet would be to measure.
