I would like someone to show me firsthand how to do this. I've read the threads but that won't work for me. Is anyone in the tri-state area that would be willing to share this either in Ct. or in their darkroom?

Have you read the article by Michael Smith? it is very good, is what I used to learn how to do it. It might be an option if nobody can help you in person.
