Going to NY August the 2 to 9th. I'm thinking the clever thing to do would be to just buy film there and get it developed as quickly as possible, preferably day to day, and perhaps do my own development of black and white with a compact set of chemistry in the hotel room.
I'm not planning on going nuts with shooting. I don't want it to dominate the trip. So perhaps five or ten rolls of 120 645 film, so it should be doable.

My question is, is there anyone doing 120 E6 within a reasonable distance from Grand Central? And they should have guaranteed service from 24 to 48 hours too.
Price is much less of an object than the above requirements.

Alternatively I'd have to go 135 and C-41 and B&W.
Any suggestions for that?

LTI recommended to me CRC Vista Film Processing for color developing. But I haven;t tried them. They moved from 20th street to the lower East side further away. 73 Ludlow Street.

There's also Lustre down on Avenue A near Tomkins Square Park. They do E6 and the quality is ok, but it's definitely not a "pro" lab.

Thank you for the answers guys. Much appreciated!
Keep them coming though. I'd really love to shoot some slide in NY.

Thanks.
Wouldn't call 2.2 miles near, but it would have to do, if there isn't anything even more close by.

By the way, is there any photography exhibitions I should look out for?

Is there any special film camera stores I should visit?

Any flea markets or charity/thrift shops that has a good selection of film gear?

How about CRC on

73 Ludlow St, New York, NY 10002

It's only one more mile as opposed to Lustre.
How is their turnaround?
Of course I'd have to hand in the film at the latest two days before departure.

LTI, which only does b/w now, recommended CRC for color but I never got around to using them. Call CRC and ask those question directly. Explain your situation to them and see if they can be of help. If not, maybe they could recommend someone else.

I used CRC as my go-to lab for LF color work before I started doing it myself in my kitchen. This was when they were up on 20th Street. I found their work to be good and they were friendly, helpful and efficient. I imagine they'll be able to help you.

If you're using LTI for your regular lab work (or even if you're not) you might try going next door on 30th Street to the Penumbra Foundation/Center for Alternative Process. It's where I learned to do kallitypes. They do all sorts of workshops and you might find it interesting. https://www.penumbrafoundation.org/workshops

I see on the website that gallery admission is by appointment only these days. Probably a covid thing. But it's still free!

That’s absolutely fantastic! Do they have a visitors room with a few prints as examples? Will have to look I guess.

I'm also pretty familiar with The Color House, they seem to be a pretty 'pro' shop from what I can tell - they do APS still and give it back in the roll for whatever that's worth as a sign of quality. Unfortunately that's downtown on 50 Orchard St, but to be honest I find myself practically unable to find a roll of film above SoHo these days.

I believe B&H (33rd and 9th) and Adorama (17th and 6th) have darkrooms as well but can't speak to their turnaround time.

Check on Duggal - they are one of the biggest pro labs in nyc. https://duggal.com/ contact them to see if they still offer film processing - I'm only seeing stuff for printing on their website, but you never know. When Agfa Scala was a thing, they were one of the only Scala labs in the US. I had them process some for me and it was lightning fast turnaround even though I had to mail it to them.
