This is a two part. The FT was obviously produced in the mid to late 60's, how do you know exactly when?

Also there is a date stamped into the film door for January of 1992.......this camera hasn't been produced in almost 40 years.

Is it a date possibly when it was repaired or serviced?

Good morning, J-Dogg;

The title of your message is unusual. I admit that I actually prefer a nice looking woman.

Going into the text of your message: The Nikkormat FT was made from July 1965 to August 1967. The first one was FT 3100001. I do not see an ending serial number in my references. The replacement Nikkormat FTN from October 1967 begins with FT 3500001. The FTN had a much longer production run until March 1975.

The date of January 1992 "stamped" into the film door probably is a repair date or something equivalent.

As Ralph says almost certainly the date of a service/repair. With Leica's they leave a pencilled initials etc & it's often possible to find who did the service.

We'll let you carry on dating the camera Don't lead it on
