Darkrooms in San Francisco

It has been DECADES since I have had any direct contact with that darkroom! CALL THEM

I can heavily vouch for Harvey Milk Photo Center, I go there all the time. Bring your negatives and paper, everything else is provided (easels, grain enlargers, base boards, enlargers, carriers, chemicals, etc.). The darkroom has 30+ enlargers, many different brands. Staff is very knowledgeable.

So is it 10$ for non members to get access to the darkroom? That includes the chemicals and the use of the enlarger?

Thanks

Yes, $10 for day access to the darkroom (which includes enlargers, and the chemicals are all set up by the staff). You can also get a partial membership (base fee of $64 for 6 months, which drops day pass price to $6, or unlimited membership for $160/6 months $319/1 year).

I guess it's a tad pricy, but the facility is really top notch, and I'm glad SF has such a fantastic resource.

There is PhotoCentral in Hayward (East SF Bay area) if you are in that direction. Great show up there right now, also.

Just found this information in a 2012 article about the Harvey Milk Photo Center operated by SF Parks and Recreation..."Today users pay an annual $280 membership fee, half that for seniors."

Oh, I see taxonomies has posted much more current pricing info.

Pricey? $10 a day with chemicals and knowledgeable staff. I think that's a bargain anywhere, much less a high cost of living area like SF.
