Learn to make expressive prints, not from books or from talk, but by actually making your prints using one of 2 high quality Durst enlargers
(A = from 35mm to 4X5; B = 5X7 to 8X10).

During just one Darkroom Workshop you will most likely make the finest prints you have ever made!

These are no-nonsense hands-on workshops, where you will learn to read a negative, and make expressive, archival prints.
You will learn to obtain maximum blacks and pure clean whites
as well as creating lush, smooth grey-tones, setting your prints apart from the mainstream.
You will learn about two-bath print development to control contrast.
You will learn how to bleach prints in order to selectively increase middle tone contrast, and you will learn the effects of selenium and gold protective toners for maximum visual impact.
Finally you will learn about print color, and how to obtain cool tone prints from warm tone papers.

$120 per person, 2 people max, paper, chemistry included.
Refreshments plus a light lunch included.
Saturdays from 9AM to 6PM

Limited availability.

I attended Per's workshop last Saturday and I am very happy with what I learned and the resultant prints.

I highly recommend that you take a notebook to catch everything he says and does.

I have also attended a Per workshop, several years ago. Best part for me was to watch his work flow in the darkroom. It is a pleasure to watch him do the burning and dodging and variety of development to bring out the subtleties in the print. Very smooth and intuitive. He can make a print glow (without overdoing the contrast). He also shows an interesting method of analyzing composition and of course it is great to see his prints.
