Craigslist ad. Would be about a six hour round trip.

Any idea of manufacturer?

Large fiberglass darkroom sink. Size is 75" long x 38" wide x 5" deep. Backsplash with shelf is 12" tall from inside of sink to top of shelf. There are some minor scratches and nicks but in good condition overall. Sink bottom is reinforced with metal bands.

If I had to guess, it was Kreonite. I think that was a color they offered. Others may confirm....

Seller only wants $60, so would definitely would be a worthwhile trip. Much less $$$ than building one.

It is a Kreonite brand sink. I have one that is fully plumbed. These were used in a lot of pro labs and schools.
If the price was right, it would be worth the drive to me. They were good sinks.

I'd go for it if I needed a sink.

Seriously considering it. Definitely needing a sink. Moved into a new place a year ago and have a room next to the laundry. So, have plumbing in the wall that the sink would go on. Was considering building a sink of similar size, so this would be ideal.

I need to price out the cost of not only materials, but add in time to build. I'll still need to frame a support and factor in the cost of plumbing. I'm hoping that once I get there, the seller has the plumbing setting in some corner. Happened when I bought my JOBO a few years ago.

Even if I have to carry water and drain waste to/from the adjoining laundry it will be far better than my previous set up where the wet side was on a folding table and water/waste was carried up/down stairs.

I may have to change next weekend's plans and make a road trip.

If the road trip offers some photographic options, it would be even easier to rationalize the gas cost
Are there any people on the way that you have been planning to visit? 😉

Matt, my wife would call you an "Enabler." 😀

If the Pere Marquette 1225 locomotive were fired up that weekend, it is on the way there...

Now, to get the rear brakes fixed on the truck for a road trip. I'm not sure that it will fit in the back of her Kia Seltos. However good the truck is on fuel economy (approaching 20 mpg. if I behave) it has nothing on her car.

Anyone have ideas as to the frame support that this might require? I'm hoping to price out a home made plywood sink vs. purchase of this one. The wife is an accountant by trade and keeper of the checkbook at home, so have to justify the expense right after signing on the line for a new metal roof on the 1,900 sq. ft. roof.

Mmm, maybe I can talk the roofers into a little extra framing to go toward the sink support???

Any enablers have ideas???

That's funny, so does mine 😉
On the requirement for frame support, figure out the internal volume, then calculate how much added weight you would have if you put that volume of water in it.
Then get the seller to give you a rough guess of the weight of it. Once you have both numbers, add them. That will tell you how much strength you need.
Could you get the seller to send you a photo with the bottom showing, with a couple of tape measures on it? Perhaps if you sent them half the money as a deposit by etransfer?

Nice sink...go for it. Paint it gray? Leave it techno-pop-groovy-green?

Even if I have to carry water and drain waste to/from the adjoining laundry...

Some ideas...

My darkroom is like yours, where it's in a room adjoining the laundry room so it was easy to get water into the darkroom.

Not wanting to put in permanent plumbing, I put Y shut off's on the laundry side, then used flexible stainless steel washing machine hose to get water to the darkroom. A couple small holes in the wall did the trick.

As far as drainage from the darkroom sink goes, I rigged some pipe & elbows to the drain on the laundry room floor. Lucky for me, the floor drain was about 6 inches away from the wall.

Not Darkroom Magazine cover photo material, but does the job on the cheap and if/when we sell the house the darkroom can easily go back to being a bedroom.

I weigh about 212 lbs right now. I've stood on a single 2x6 over a stairway hole to remove a wayward fastener that would impede/damage drywall. I do not recommend this, but simply saying that a 2x4 frame of pretty simple design would be more than adequate for this sink.
