Darkroom Sink Idea

I'll be setting up a semi-temporary darkroom over this winter in a house where I'll be for two years, in India. I'll be using a bathroom which has a water supply mid-wall, chest height, as part of a shower arrangement (no tub or anything, just a drain to the floor.)

Wanted to set up a sink of some sort underneath this faucet, but the idea of lugging something like a stainless or ABS sink overseas seemed like an expensive pain in the ass.

But last month, we had a daughter-and as we were discharged from the hospital, they gave us a Rubbermaid cart to carry all our crap out to the car. Looking at it, I think I found my solution:

They're cheap, light, portable, and come disassembled. Thinking that installing a drain with a hose running to the floor drain on each tier of the cart might be a solution for my darkroom. Thoughts?

The Plumber inside of me thinks, that's an excellent solution to the problem.

Now you have me thinking about getting one for my bathroom ...

I think it is a great idea. If it does not workout in the dr then you can put wheels on it and use it as a utility cart.

What are the inside dimensions? It seems a bit small.

Wow, there's even a less expensive option in very similar U-line utility carts. Under $100! Appreciate the feedback from you guys; at least I know I'm not too far in left field on this one.


Rubbermaid has several models of different sizes; most seem plenty big. I need to get the dimensions of the room I'll be in before committing to one. Likely, I'll use a 17 or 18 inch depth because the room is narrow. I plan on using both tiers was wet areas. Processing up top, storing/clearing/washing down below.

If your trays aren't too big, that's a decent option I think. Also, an option (here at least) is Home Depot has some big black plastic rectangular tubs for mixing concrete in. They are $12.37 "Large, Mixing Tub Black " 24x36".

Those mixing tubs don't look bad, but might be a tad deep, and don't have any sort of stand...that's what appeals to me about this cart. I am not going to have the time or ability to put together a stand, much less build a whole sink.
