I hope that black on the insulation is not mold!

It isn't mold, but I don't know exactly what it is. The black colour is only on the surface. The insulation in this room may be up to 40 years old.

News this week is that I've ordered a drainage pump and that an Intellifaucet has arrived at the Post office. The pump is a necessity, the Intellifaucet a convenience, and both are expensive...

Its things like the Intellifaucet that make a Darkroom a pleasure to be in - lets you concentrate on producing great pictures instead of the photographic process.

I've seen that black stuff on basement insulation before-- Its powder mildew, and can cause some not so nice problems with allergies.

My version of the intellifaucet works pretty good too:

1. Adjust hot and cold until running water over a thermometer indicates the temperature you want (e.g. 20C).
2. Use a china pencil to mark faucet positions against base.

Of course, this doesn't adjust for variations in water pressure. ;-)

Some updates on the progress. The work table has been built and the enlargers are installed. Now I'm working on the sink. It's taking a little longer than I wished, but I think I can start using it in a couple of months.
