I always fill the tank with fixer for 35 years but the lecturer teaches when development finishes , filling the tank with water and empty first 10-20-30-40-50 seconds with crazy strong agitation. I think its very wrong , water and extra developer on film leaves streaks on films and kill the sharpness. What do you say ?

My normal is filling the tank 3 times with water after development because I generally do not use a stop bath. I agitate and keep the water around the same temperature as everything else. It works fine with almost every film and does not decrease sharpness or cause uneven development. My fixer lasts a very long time, in fact, I have never seen it fail. I pour it out after about 2 years.

I think the middle way between me and young 28 years old lecturer is to find stop bath. I hope its cheap. Thank you.
