I can second the felt with a self adhesive back from Michael's; It's cheap and comes in several thicknesses.

I would not use felt, and so far I only have come across 1 device ever where felt was used (a 70mm daylight loader).

I would use velvet instead.

Hmmm...the old one, does definitely looks like felt.. not velvet.

Thanks Shutterfinger ..but the self adhesive back is really not necessary Kino, as it is stamped inside a metal holder, which is going to be interesting in gently prying it open.
Thought we would use a thin flat knife blade.
Any other suggestions?

I am surprised by that. But to be fair I never did a side by side test, between felt and velvet as seal.
(But velvelt should be more elastic and have the ability to "swallow" parts instead of embedding them in its surface.)

Hmmmm, this is getting very interesting... Investigating a light flare between shots, we took the unit apart, and found the dark slide felt was in fact was embedded as you you stated. Used a dry old toothbrush we cleaned it up, but found with further testing that there still is a light leak flare there and it needs to be replaced.

They have both; felt with and without the adhesive.
