I have searched everywhere for a dark blue filter in the Cokin P series. It seems the only ones are the colour correction types that don't produce sufficient shift in the wavelength. I am looking for a filter that will darken the reds and lighten blue eyes etc...a very wet plate look resulting.

Does anyone know where I can get hold of them (ideally if there is a Cokin P), but happy to consider a screw on type if that is the only choice...

Thanks. Kal

You need to look for some gelatin filters that were made for color separations. I have a set, think the blue is a 47b. Cokin makes a holder for gel filters.

Thanks Gary, will check it out. I do shoot some Ortho film, but I want to have the flexibility when other film is loaded. As to shooting wet plate, I think I may not afford it due to the divorce settlement that would result from buying yet another camera ;-) K

I got my deep blue filter from my local plastic fabrication shop. They had a spare off-cut of deep blue perspex (plexiglas, acrylic) out of which I cut some 84mm squares (Cokin size) with a hacksaw. This stuff works like a 47B and I used a test film to find its filter factor; exactly 2 1/3 stops for daylight subjects. Total cost $1.

Thanks Maris, Any chance you could post an image of it so I can get an idea of how dark tis filter needs to be? I like the idea of plastic...more resilient...though it may affect image quality more? Rgds, Kal
