Then again, a military spec f/1 lens does come at a bit of a premium. From what I've gleened, these Elcan's were designed without any concern for the cost of production; it was more about designing the best possible lens. Still,...24 g's. Yikes!

That, and it's a very rare Leica related collectible. You can safely bet that it will be either stored in a safe or in a display case, never to shoot again.
Years ago I had a tour of the Leica plant in Midland Canada. They had one of these on display there. Also a 50mm F .7 if my mermory serves me right.

Concern for cost falls pretty d@mned high on my list of considerations.
I hope whoever bought it makes use of that $24,000 extra stop.
