Wow. Only about $24,000 more than my German Zeiss 85mm 1.4.
I think that I'll just push the film for the extra stop. Way cheaper.

Then again, a military spec f/1 lens does come at a bit of a premium. From what I've gleened, these Elcan's were designed without any concern for the cost of production; it was more about designing the best possible lens. Still,...24 g's. Yikes!

That, and it's a very rare Leica related collectible. You can safely bet that it will be either stored in a safe or in a display case, never to shoot again.

Years ago I had a tour of the Leica plant in Midland Canada. They had one of these on display there. Also a 50mm F .7 if my mermory serves me right.

Hey, It's only taxpayer dollars. It's not like it's real money.
Concern for cost falls pretty d@mned high on my list of considerations.
I hope whoever bought it makes use of that $24,000 extra stop.

Yeah, I thought about getting one of those, but it blocked too much of the viewfinder on my Leica M.

$24,000 for a lens or mortgage payments? Oh! no! this is a hard decision... I need to think about it a little.
