dammitol

The Church of Rottenol recently tried to convert me from Damitol to Rottenol.

The preacher suggested "vehemently" that if I did not;*

A) I'd burn in the flames of pyro and rot in LPD (lasting photographic damnation)

B) That My photos would never be clearly seen and that my grain would turn to mush.*He spouted all manner of theses and thouses and told me to forgo the smooth temptation of the "double-D-X" rated world and to avoid those who XTol their virtues above that of Rottenol.*

"Purity and everlasting shelf life must be maintained."

He said "Life is hard, the right road is chiseled sharply in black and white, do not be led astray by chromogenics! Color and fake B&W is the playground of d-mins."*

At this point I'd had enough because I could see his "777" tat and I suggested that he was "in the closet" and that he should come out, that he'd be more comfortable and healthier.*

I whipped out an 8x10 printed from 4x5 that was shot on Sinner-P with swirly Putzval lens from I got from a pusher in NV (who would not say where it came from), on T-100 that was developed in Damitol then printed on Virgen Cherry paper.

And he said "Damitol, that's nice"

No, the winner is Damnitol for development, Noassatol for stop, and Sulfadeniol for fixing!

The hominid eye is more 'sensitive' to movement on the periferal... and the best way to find the jumping fuckowie is to watch for the 'bobbing' movements.... not the vocalisations.

I been developing negatives in Pyro-Crap HD for a while. No use using Dammitol after that. Can't be my picher taken practices.

The hominid eye is more 'sensitive' to movement on the periferal... and the best way to find the jumping fuckowie is to watch for the 'bobbing' movements.... not the vocalisations.

The great thing about Dammitol is that any developer can be made to look exactly like it if used properly!

Also, have you heard about the new and improved version that is rumored to be out soon? It's going to be called Dammitol Anyhow.

To me, they produce the same results: One clear strip of cellulose triacetate. So why bother using Dammitol, or the new Dammitol Anyhow? I'd rather use D-76 (1:1)! If all else fails, at least I know what film it is! (It is pre-exposed before packaging, something like: "KODAK TX 5047")

That is fine. You can certainly get Dammitol or Dammitol Anyhow results from your D-76 1:1. All you have to do is not pay attention to anything you are doing.

No, Dammitol Tahell is a new version of Dammitol, produced after the original company declared bankruptcy.

i have gotten similar results with other developers,
but nothing is quite like what you get
when you remove the prints from the fix,
look at i through the overheadight smile
and say "dammitol!"
i didn't know the went out of business
the junkstore still had a bunch of it,
and it seems like the mix isn't too hard to do on your own
with stuff you might have lying around your darkroom
or kitchen ...

In Germany there is a similar commercial product named Rollei RHS, which used to be Amaloco AM74, but when Amaloco was liquidated Maco replaced this foolproof developer with a similar Fuji-something variant, and now they must have changed to Vanishol-C or Clearophen. After development films are perfectly clear if you get the right batch. No base fog, and that's guaranteed. I bet they will brag about this fact.

Unfortunately this is not a joke but finally the reason for the next product callback from Maco/Rollei... :confused:

Check the expiry date on the stuff at the junk store, I once went into one and found milk with an expiry date in June, the only problem it was mid-August.... :eek:

I've tried the new formulation of Universal dammitol and found it works equally well with both film and paper... But I wasn't happy with the results...

Next I tried to be consistent and use tryitol... I found it to be inconsistently inconsistent...

Now I'm going to try dammitol FML... it's the new formulation for rotary processing... Hopefully I can get rid of the streaking and uneven development... I hear it's about the same as using caffenol

Dammitol FML didn't quite give me the tonal balance I was seeking, nor did it render highlights at all. I've been using a split process of Solution A (Dammitol Tahell) and Solution B (Dammitol FML), which has helped dissolve most of my films. I think this new combo will be put out thru Formulary as WTH-86.
