I went out today with my 503cx and suddenly rain started pouring down, and some drops came onto the Acutemate screen. I packed my gear and left for the car (rain was really pouring down)

Came home, and wanted to clean the camera, and noticed that one corner of Acutemate screen was more clear than the rest. When looking through lens this damaged area looks black, but on the screen it is actually clearer than matte screen.

Is this normal ?

Can acutemate damaged by moisture ?

That's scary. I have a 503CX with an accutematte screen. I have not yet taken it out in the rain but i used to get rained on with an old 500C that i used to have with no issues.

Hi David - Thanks

Can I do anything to speed up that process ? Put it on the heater or close to own to get rid of moisture between glasses ?

Seal it in a bag full of desicant (sp?).

I'd be very careful with applying heat, remember that water expands a lot when it get hot and it could cause damage. I would take the slow and steady method.

Definitely do not heat it. The plastic fresnel is incredibly soft and will probably deform. I made the mistake of 'wiping' mine in a corner and I permanently damaged mine. It sounds just like yours, black in the corner if I view it at an angle. Works just fine though when I'm looking through it normally.

I don't think rain would permanently damage it though.
