Daido Moriyama - Compact Camera vs SLR

Interesting -- to each their own, I guess. The only real takeaway from this, for me, was the point Daido made about it not mattering too much which camera you use...the image is the thing.

That's true (to a point) and something it's easy to forget about. Perhaps the larger point is to become one with your tool of choice, to the point that you just don't think about it anymore.

I think maybe each photographer is fated to be able to attain that with a different kind of camera. In other words, it does and doesn't matter which camera you use.

Yes, best camera is the one you have with you. Couple of weeks ago I was with my wife in center, did not plan to take any photos, so I left my "serious" cameras (Leica, Nikon) at home. Good that I had plastic compact with me , because it was pride parade, and I took some nice photos. And guess what - plastic camera did the job same as "serious" cameras (links below)

The same thing happens with my tattered Rollei, it's a pain to use with its dim screen, but I always seem to make great pictures with it...
