Am I mistaken, or does electroplating the plates require cyanide?

There are plating solutions that do not have cyanide. They are acidic if I remember correctly. When ordering for a jewelry supplier one needs to be careful.

I have done some jewelry making and have found the Rio Grande catalogue useful.
