I came across one of the older Schneider Gold Dot Dagor's, 14", and I was wondering if someone could throw out the approx. value of this lens in mint condition. It's one of the 1st ones in the older silver print Copal 3 shutter. It says "Schneider Corp. Of American" on the front, and on the back "Lens made in Switzerland" No. 2001928.

Any other information you can tell would be useful as well. I'm not much a Dagor buff, but I know many of you are.

Thanks guys.

I gather this is one of the late Kern Dagors. If so, it's value is $1500 and upward depending on condition. I personally believe that the the 355 G-Claron is a much better lens for ULF because it has much bigger coverage than the Kern Dagor, but the Dagor mystique is huge. The coverage of the Kern Dagor in this focal length is considerably less than that of a classic Dagor.

I agree w/Sandy, although this one might be worth a little less since it's the earlier non-multicoated version. But, you never know if you find some one who reeaaallllly wants it! The later examples have "MC" in the lettering and show considerably more color refraction in the coating. As Sandy said, an old-fashioned dagor is much more desirable for ULF work.
