I'm about to process 3200 using D76 stock solution. I've never used D76 except at 1:1. What can I expect to find? Have any of you used this combination?

Thanks.

Hi Janet,

Yes, I've used this combo, but only a couple of times as TMAX 3200 is a specialty film for me, not something I use often.

I went to the MDC http://www.digitaltruth.com/devchart.html and used their time of 12.5 min at an EI of 1600. I think the key to this film is what EI you shoot it at. It's NOT an ISO 3200 film! It's more of an 800-1200 speed film.

You'll find that using D-76 1+0 (stock) will give you finer grain that using it 1+1 and that may be a nice benefit with this grainy film, although lots of folks like a heavy dose of grain.

P3200 w/D76 stock

I like it. I frequently have trouble focusing, even with the grain focuser, because of my aged vision. No problem with this - the grain is clear and beautiful (in my opinion). Like you, Jim, I hardly ever use this film but it's nice as an option.

Thanks, guys!

p.s. first trial print here...
