I've been mixing up D23 R (Metol 10g, Sod Sulfite 100g, Kodalk 20g) by halving the Anchell formula for 1/2 liter stock. I notice it goes bad within 2 or 3 weeks, turns dark brown and stinks. This hasn't happened when mixing full liters. Can anyone venture an explanation? Thanks.

Sounds like you have a problem with one of the components, I assume you're storing in full bottles. If not it should still last a few months.

Agree with Ian. No way it should go off that quickly - even if stored in partially full bottle. I suspect that you have a contamination issue.

Thanks, so nothing to do with halving the formula then. I'll have to go with new storage bottle and pipette and see if that makes a diff.
