I hope you don´t mind if we try guessing. The secret ingredient is typically "Love", "Salt" or "Sugar".

As we are talking developers, "Love" will not do the trick. But salt and sugar might ....

I develop my film and prints with love and they look much better than when I used to send my film to be developed and printed elsewhere. The only conclusion I can draw is that those guys are some loveless mutherf...

Oh, it definitely helps if you develop your film with love and passion, but the manufacturer of the film cannot pack it with the developer.

About developing elsewhere: For them, it is just a gig, and much worse, it is a cheap gig. They are in it for the $, not for a good result.
 
I have a good 25-30 1 gallon sacks of Microdol-X in mint condition if anyone is still interested. Or, a trade off for some Polydol or DK-50. I'll even consider some Ansco (GAF) Hyfinol.
