Hello fellow tinkerers!
I aquired a Werra 1 with Tessar which needed a service.
So far I disassembled the camera to the bare bones, cleaned and lubed the film advance mechanism,
removed the top and cleaned the viewfinder (now clear as the clearest glacial water), removed the shutter / lens assembly and cleaned the lenses. I removed the lens including the focusing helicoid and I am now stuck with the bare shutter which has the base of the lens with the shutter speeds and the depth-of-field numbers on it.
The only thing left for me to do is cleaning the shutter because the slow speed mechanism is gummed up.
Having serviced the rest of the camera I also want to get this done so I have a fully working camera again.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to open the darned thing.
There is a inner ring with two grub screws which can be loosened but then the ring cannot be turned.
The black inner ring with the focusing helicoid has two slots on its outer edge just like the ones on lens retaining rings, putting my lens spanner to them and trying to turn the thing for getting it off is not successful. Since I don't know the working underneath it I do not dare turing it with force for the fear of breaking something.
I don't know what type of shutter this is, but it has a top speed of 1/250th, my guess is, it is a bespoke on for the werra, made by CZJ.
Having serviced a lot of shutters throughout the last two years, I know that going at it from the back is not a good idea. I could try to go at this one from the back since it is my only possibility at this moment, but I'm not really sure about this one.
Repair advice is quite sparce on the web, having different models of Werras which sometimes also share the same name does not help at all.
Has anybody worked on these otherwise wonderful little East German contraptions before and likes to shed some light on the matter?
