Cyprus anyone?

I will be on a 10 day vacation trip to Cyprus and would like to know whether folks can recommend good shooting locations and also tell me whether there are local stores in Larnaca or Nicosia which carry film (35mm and 120 slide film). Besides pics of my family I shoot mostly landscapes and the occasional star trail. Is it safe to take pictures near the border to the northern part? Any other things to be aware of (besides poisonous snakes) ?

Don't expect too much in the way of film it's harder to get in Greece & Turkey these days, take what you need with you.

There's plenty to shoot on any Greek island, we plan to go to Cyprus with a friend fairly soon, and I'll have no problems for my own landscape work. Get a Guidebook before you go, they are cheap & plenty of them. Hire a car, quite cheap in Greece.

I presume Ian means Cyprus. The other two things are: I found the standard of driving there to be quite high and if you are U.K. based then best of all they drive on the correct side of the road which is the left.:

I was last there about 3 years ago. Some great night shots in Paphos by the harbour where I felt safe wandering round on my own well after midnight and no-one has any problems with photographers

Paphos is incredible. You may also want to rent a motorbike, cheap and fun.
