Cyanotype on glass using Arrowroot (instead of gelatin)?

Hello all! I have the A B liquid solution for cyanotype. I also have some powdered arrowroot starch. Ive been reading about creating cyanotype prints on glass using cyanotype chemicals and gelatin. I was curious if anyone has instead tried arrowroot starch?

If I were to use the starch, would I boil it, mix it, and then mix the cyanotype chemicals in? Or apply it to the glass, dry, then apply the cyanotype chemicals over it?

One of the reasons im asking is that Id prefer to keep things simple and not have to add gelatin to my list of items, as well as the fact that im not sure if this process needs to be done with dry chemicals.

I would use gelatin. Mix in the sensitiser with the gelatin.

Plain, old Knox from the supermarket will do.

I can mix the A and B right into the gelatin/ chill it over night?

yup . you make your gelatin mixture ( about 20% by weight ) and add in your cyanotype chemistry right into that
that's the way I do it. you will probably want to put a few coats of your cyanotype gelatin mixture on your glass because
unless you make your part a+b with 1/2 the water it will be dilute from the gelatin and water.
I have a wide mouth container with gelatinized cyanotype chemistry in it ready to coat at all times .
it works great on paper too !
