Been planning to try my hand at Cyanotype printing after Gustavo's demo at the Sierra APUG Per Workshop in October.

Frozen into inaction with the old and new process, I stumbled across in Freestyle Hollywood store, a pack of 10 sheets of Cyanotype coated 8x10 paper. At about a buck each that's probably cheaper than a lot of the art paper.

Anyway, my question is anybody use this paper and what was your results?

Darrell

There is a company that was running around that supplied all sorts of "sun Prints" materials.

One of the cooler things was a sheet. One would throw it out on the grass on a sunny day and all the neighborhood kids would jump on and stay as still as kids could, then a wash in water and Hydrogen peroxide, and presto! A nice print for the kids beds.

wow!

i was just going to ask something about this.
i am traveling overseas soon and wanted to bring some coated paper
with me. is there a big difference between pre-made coated paper,
or something that i would make myself and bring?

thanks!

john

The pre-coated is something like this? http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/product/1354

The common cyanotype mixes tend not to last very long once coated. I left two sheets in a dark bag in my darkroom. The one I tried after a week was still OK, but after a month it was dead.

I have a sample printed on one of the cyanotype papers Freestyle stocks in my gallery.

Since cyanotype is so simple, you might as well coat your own. That way, you can take advantage of the various methods of controlling contrast.
